Francesca D'Urzo graduated from Carlmont High School in June 2020 with a 4.1 GPA. She is committed to attending Santa Clara University this upcoming fall and plans on taking classes in English, Marketing, and Journalism/Communications. She was an Editor for The Highlander for three years, Carlmont's print paper publication, where she was responsible for a 14-16 page center spread each issue. In her free time, she also wrote news stories and human interest features for both The Highlander and the online site, Scot Scoop. She also has experience with drawing and creating graphics in Photoshop, as well as photography. Francesca has received several first overall awards for her published work in regional and national journalism contests, such as Youth International Journalism Contest, National Federation of Press Women Contest, and more. She has a great passion for design and is interested in pursuing a journalistic career, such as magazine editing, in the future. Francesca also works outside of school as a contributing writer and assistant for a professional print publication known as Gentry Magazine.
